Northern Nigeria popular musician, Sani Dan-Indo, is dead

A famous musician in Nigeria’s north, Sani Dan-Indo, has died. He was 55.

The musician died in Kano on Sunday night after a brief illness, family and associates said.

According to his son, Zubairu Dan-Indo, who spoke to journalists in Kano, Mr. Dan-Indo was in good health Sunday, only for the shocking news of his death to emerge Monday morning.
Also confirming his death to PREMIUM TIMES, an associate of the late singer, Abu Lalo, said Mr. Dan Indo died last night.
“He never complained of any sickness,” Mr. Lalo said. “We met yesterday in the afternoon.”
Mr. Dan-Indo came to limelight in the mid-80s when he took the Kalangu Hausa music scene by storm.
He soon become very famous across the north, and he was regularly hired to perform at marriage ceremonies and other social functions.
Mr. Dan-Indo would be remembered for his popular song – Dan-Indo Mutumin Gaskiya – meaning Dan-Indo the truthful.
He has since been buried according to Islamic injunctions at his village of GadarTamburawa.
He was survived by two wives and six children.
