Startup Miti Health receives $100,000 Bill Gates Foundation grant

Miti Health, a Kenyan startup that provides chemists with business management and supply chain software on Android, has reportedly received a $100,000 Grand Challenges Explorations Grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundationto help it research ways of expanding the use of mobile tools amongst Kenyan private health providers.

Miti Health’s software allows users manage inventory, record sales, reorder medication and generate reports through the Android platform.

The project was started by Stanford University students who had worked in the Kenyan Health sector.
According to a Disrupt Africa report, the startup has now been named a Grand Challenges Explorations winner, an initiative that is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
The report also reveals that the Miti team will use the grant funding to develop something it says will be an “innovative global health and development research project.”
Miti Health is only the second startup to receive support from the Grand Challenges Exploration Grant this year, with Bitsoko, a digital currency wallet and development provider receiving the first $100,000 back in July.
